Roasting a whole Mediterranean Sea Bass in a Frying Pan

We love eating fish and Mediterranean Sea Bass is one of my favourite fish which is available here. It’s good for the BBQ or oven baked. Unfortunately, the oven in our house is broken and it’s still a bit chilly outside. So, I cooked it in a frying pan.

Luckily, there are lots of tips for cooking with frying pans on Japanese websites because most Japanese households don’t have big ovens.

First, rinse the Mediterranean Sea Bass with clean water and drain it. Salt it to remove the smell.

Put a piece of baking paper in a frying pan and heat it. Note that you might need to cut the corners of the baking paper so that it does not stick out of the frying pan.

When the frying pan is hot, add the fish in (I like putting some bay leaves on it), cover it and bake it on low or medium heat for about 8 – 10 minutes on one side. Do not move the fish, while you are cooking it.

Turn over the fish, remove the oil which might come from the fish if necessary. Bake the other side in the same way. Serve it with the seasonings that you like.
